Installation Process

Excavation and Base Work

We begin by excavating all areas to a depth of 14 to 16 inches. This allows us to remove any unstable soil and create room for a proper foundation. Cutting corners here is one of the main reasons projects fail over time, so we make sure the base is built right from the start. Once excavation is complete, we install a geosynthetic landscape fabric. This helps separate the soil from the base material and adds long-term stability.

For the foundation, we use clear stone to promote proper drainage, along with HPB (high performance bedding). The entire area is graded to a 2.5% slope so water flows away from your home and doesn’t sit on the surface.

Compaction and Structure

A strong base needs to be properly compacted. We use a 600 lb diesel plate compactor and build the base in layers, packing every 4 inches. This step is critical and makes a big difference in preventing settling and movement over time.

Installation and Finishing

With the base complete, we move on to installing the interlock. Attention to detail at this stage is what gives the finished surface its clean, precise look, from straight lines to tight, consistent spacing.

Once the pavers are in place, we apply G2 high-performance polymeric sand. This helps lock the stones together, reduces weed growth, and improves overall durability.

To finish, we run a plate compactor over the surface. The vibration works the sand deep into the joints, filling them from top to bottom and tightening everything up. This final step helps keep the entire surface locked in place and performing the way it should over time.

Why This Matters

A lot of issues people see with interlock come from what’s underneath the surface. Poor drainage, uneven settling, and shifting stones are usually the result of rushed or improper base work. Our process is designed to avoid those problems and give you something that lasts.
